You don't sign up for damage cover on BytePe — it comes with the subscription. Every BytePe subscription includes BytePe Secure: 100% cover of the repair cost for one-time accidental or liquid damage, powered by Acko Insurance. The policy is issued automatically against your BytePe-registered mobile number — no enrollment, no activation, no IMEI forms. If damage happens, you file a repair claim in the Acko app, choose pick-up, cashless repair or reimbursement, and pay a one-time processing fee (₹1,499+GST for Apple, ₹999–1,999+GST for Android) — the repair must be done at a brand-authorised service centre. One repair claim per device; theft and loss are not covered.

What Is BytePe Secure?
BytePe Secure is the damage-protection plan included with every subscription device on BytePe — the line on the plan card that says "Device protection included". It covers 100% of the repair cost for one-time accidental damage, with a processing fee payable at claim time. The insurance itself is underwritten and serviced by Acko, one of India's largest digital insurers, and comes only with BytePe — you cannot buy it separately.
That bundling is the practical difference from standalone mobile insurance: there's no policy shopping, no premium comparison, and no separate renewal. (Weighing the whole package? See our BytePe vs traditional ownership comparison.)
How Do You Get It? (You Don't Enroll — You Just Buy the Phone)
This is the step most guides overcomplicate. There is no application, eligibility check, activation window or IMEI form. The flow is:
Buy your phone on BytePe — subscription or any plan where Secure is shown as included.
The policy is auto-issued against the mobile number you used at checkout. Nothing to fill in.
Find it in the Acko app whenever you like: log in with your BytePe-registered number, and the policy sits under Acko Essentials → Your Policies.
What's Covered — and What's Not
Covered:
Accidental damage — cracked screens, physical drops, and impact damage
Liquid damage — water spills, submersion, and moisture-related damage
Not covered:
Theft — stolen devices are not covered under this plan
Lost devices — misplaced or lost phones are not eligible for claims
Three plan rules to internalise on day one: only one repair claim per device is allowed, a one-time processing fee applies when you claim — ₹1,499 + GST for Apple devices, ₹999–₹1,999 + GST for Android — and repairs must be done at a brand-authorised service centre for the claim to be approved. Your policy document in the Acko app is definitive.

How to File a Claim (in the Acko App)
When damage happens, the whole claim runs through the Acko app:
Download the Acko app (App Store or Play Store) and log in with your BytePe-registered mobile number plus OTP.
Open your policy — Acko Essentials → Your Policies → your BytePe device insurance policy.
Raise a repair request from the policy page: display status, damage type, incident details and your current pin code.
Choose a settlement mode — pick-up & drop within 48 hours, cashless repair, or reimbursement against an uploaded invoice. Either way, the repair must be carried out at a brand-authorised service centre for the claim to be approved.
Pay the processing fee in the app (Apple ₹1,499 + GST; Android ₹999–₹1,999 + GST) and track the claim under Repair Requests.

Common Pitfalls (and How to Avoid Them)
The plan is simple, but four misunderstandings cause most disappointment. First, theft and loss are not damage — if the phone is stolen or misplaced, Secure doesn't apply, so don't skip separate theft cover if that risk matters to you. Second, you get one repair claim per device — a second cracked screen is on you, which makes a good case (₹500–800) cheap insurance for your insurance. Third, the claim isn't free — budget for the processing fee so it doesn't surprise you at repair time. Fourth, the repair must go through a brand-authorised service centre — a third-party repair shop can void your one claim.
And one operational habit: your Acko login is your BytePe-registered number. If you change SIMs or numbers, keep that number reachable — it is the key to your policy.

BytePe Secure vs Standalone Mobile Insurance
An honest comparison: standalone policies from insurers like Acko or Bajaj Finserv can offer multiple claims or theft cover on premium tiers — at a real annual premium, bought and renewed yourself. BytePe Secure trades that breadth for radical simplicity: included with your subscription, zero paperwork, one solid repair claim (with a processing fee at claim time), and the same insurer-grade claims infrastructure via Acko. For most people buying on BytePe, that's the right default — and if you want theft cover on top, nothing stops you adding a standalone policy alongside. One repair claim per device for the life of the plan. Combine it with a good case and screen protector so the single claim stays available for genuine accidents.

How do I file a BytePe Secure claim?
In the Acko app: log in with your BytePe-registered number, open your device policy, raise a repair request, choose pick-up & drop (48 hrs), cashless repair or reimbursement, pay the processing fee and track it under Repair Requests. The repair itself must be done at a brand-authorised service centre.
